Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Investing is currently showing growth and momentum in the New Zealand market. ESG considerations are also being integrated into investment strategies. So, our team at Flint Wealth is pleased to introduce a new fund to invest in, the Artesian Green and Sustainable Bond Fund (NZD). This Fund will invest in a diversified portfolio of Australian and international bonds labelled as Green, Social or Sustainable Bonds. This is a partnership between Artesian and Devon Funds Management.

Devon and Artesian

Devon Funds Management (Devon) specialises in values-based investment strategies, utilises an active approach, and focuses on responsible investing. Devon is also a signatory to the United Nations supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), a member of the Responsible Investment Association of Australasia (RIAA), a founding member of the New Zealand Corporate Governance Forum, and a Climate Action 100+ participant.

Artesian, on the other hand, is a global fund manager that is focused on relative value opportunities in credit markets. It was established in 2004, by Jeremy Colless, Matthew Clunies-Ross & John McCartney. Since then, it has managed specialised funds on credit arbitrage and relative-value strategies across global financial markets. It also showed commitment to integrating ESG into its investment process and applying responsible investment practices.

The portfolio managers

The Artesian Fund is led by Portfolio Manager David Gallagher. David is the Head of Australian Fixed Income at Artesian. He has over 20 years of experience in global investment banking, including 9 years of work at Deutsche Bank and RBS, United Kingdom. He was awarded the Macquarie Bank Dux Award for being the top graduating student while taking his Master of Applied Finance from Kaplan (formerly known as Securities Institute of Australia).

Artesian’s Co-founder and Chief Investment Officer, Matthew Clunies-Ross, works closely with David. He also serves on the investment committee of various Artesian VC Funds. Before Artesian, he honed his expertise by working at Macquarie Bank, HSBC, and ANZ. Matthew leads an investment team comprised of personnel across Sydney, Melbourne, New York, London, and Singapore.
